I know that many people may not agree with me on this, but I do believe that all people should be given the opportunity to be redeemed at some point in their life. Sometimes even children are called to answer the prayers of their parents or grandparents who are in purgatory. I am a servant hearted man, and my faith has guided me even in times when I was not as supported by the people around me. Thankfully God has found ways to surround me with prayerful people, and people who had stronger prayer lives than my own at those moments. I have gone in and out of states of sin and grace, and am thankful that God loves me and sends me people to get my life back on track towards a life that leads to heaven and invites others to heaven even if we grow up with different religions, languages, dialects cultures, or faiths. Every human being deserves to know that they came from heaven, and they will be given an opportunity to live on earth and pray for their loved ones to be in heaven when god calls them back to heaven at the end of their lives on earth. Because we are all sons and daughters of God the Father, his Bride Mama Mary, their baby Jesus and the holy spirit. Everyone who has arrived on earth after Baby Jesus is a brother of sister of Jesus. Viva Cristo Rey.
One thing I have become very aware of is that many marriages are ended early by men and women who go into marriage without the proper preparation. I believe many couples of any faith would benefit by attending a 3 day cana retreat before the engagement proposal, and before the wedding. During a cana retreat couples that are open to marriage but just dating or courting still can ask every question that a husband and wife should know about each other and the prayers and preparations that both the man and wife need to make before getting engaged, and before planning for a wedding.
Most couples only go to cana retreats after getting engaged. But I believe that all couples that are hoping or considering marrying a person in the future that they are currently dating should do their cana retreat within the first 3 to 6 months of them being a real couple. At first as with any new relationship they should meet in groups and be aware of what the their partner does and how their partner serves the neighborhood and friends and family. And they should be asking themselves what this woman or man will teach their children. And women in particular have to like the way the man leads prayers and see if the man is able to bring both of them closer to God each day and he should be able to put God first, then his family, and then his neighbors. Even at mass both the husband and wife or prayer partners before they are married should always put God ahead of their own marriage. Because during the trials of life, if the spouses are struggling they should be able to go to God the Father and seek his help. For whenever a man or woman asks god the father a question in prayer God will answer those prayers the same way any parent should answer a child:
1) No Child, because I love you 2) Yes Child, because I love you 3)Not Right Now Child, because I love you and that was an important lesson I learned during our Christian life Programs at Couples for Christ USA from my friend Rye Guttierez many years ago. And my friend Giovanni Parrea taught me the power and grace and healing that can happen to a man when he asked me to go to daily mass for 13 weeks. And lets just say that completing that request from my brother Giovanni changed my life and opened my hardened heart many years ago.
