https://vimeo.com/99309737 jeff jordan a great speaker on the theology of the body, and an awesome trainer and nutritionist talks about the importance of making movies that are life giving from a christian or catholic point of view rather than what much of the world puts out there in the world whether it is filled with f-bombs, or a lack of vocabulary to express their frustrations, or unnecessary graphic sex or graphic violence. It is perfectly acceptable to have people die or face danger in a film, but there is no need for their death to be so gruesome on film that it puts nightmares into children and young people for weeks at a time. Or centering a film around the devil and being a child of the devil or bringers of apocalypse or some lame thing since the devil has no power over God's people since Jesus banished him long ago. And even sexual activity can be implied the need to expose everything is not necessary when people make love it can be exciting and even stimulating to see them kiss and be under the covers or touching each other without exposing every genital on the man or woman or flashing buttcheeks and genitals for no reason. And I personally believe that showing a woman breastfeeding a baby but without bearing the nipple of her breast for an extended time is a good way to show that women are able and called to feed the children or even adults in the family in an emergency like a earthquake or war when grocery stores or farms cannot provide war to people trapped in a cave, or a house with little resources or food. But Nudity that is basically Pornography that is not adding to the story just to improve ratings and Blowing people to bits and having a devil's advocate or child of the devil being the basis of the movie is just garbage. The godfather trilogy is a great example of a violent story of the mafia with death, action, and suffering and redemption but they use zero cuss words and the story is more powerful than most common movies in the since 2000 that rely so heavily on four letter words that teach us nothing about how to express our hearts as people. The arcangelfilmfestival for 2014 is on july 19th...and it will be at the san gabriel mission on the same day as my birthday.
